Back to School... Back to School

So... I know this post is a little overdue! Scott and I have been on our new schedule now for about a month (22 school days to be exact... no worries... my second graders and I keep track) and life has gone from nice and relaxed to CRAZY!!! A good night means that we are both home by around 6pm... and that's after leaving the house at or before 7 am. :'(

Scott has been working hard on going to school full time and working full time. And I have been working hard teaching 29 second graders. It is exhausting!

I honestly wasn't prepared for how much work I would need to put in to be the best teacher for those students that I can be! I wasn't prepared for the early mornings and late nights and endless hours of copying and cutting and coloring and decorating and planning and re-planning and grading and organizing. But I also wasn't prepared for the huge impact that every single one of those students in my class would have on my life. Every day I want to be better, so that I can somehow make sure that the kids leave my class having learned something and knowing that they are important. I wasn't prepared for how hard teaching is, but I wouldn't trade it for the world!
